It's been a while... Again!
Once again, it's been a while since my last post, and if I'm honest, I can't remember all the stuff that's happened since then so I'll just deal with the last week (about all my memory's good for theses days). The BBCs celebrations of Bob Dylan's 70th Birthday included the classic album, Freewheeling being re-recorded by some of the UK folk scene's brightest stars. I was pleased to be asked to play alongside the fantastic Cara Dillon (one of my all-time favourite singers) on her version of Corrina Corrina. This week also saw the last of the (long-awaited) elements for the forthcoming Fairfield Banjos come together. Hopefully both myself, and the designer of the Irish tenor version, Damien O'Kane, will be playing Fairfield Banjos within weeks. Click here to read more...

Albums and banjos
It's been a while since I last signed in, mainly because it's all been busy busy busy here. The Scoville Units album is now finished and sounds great. Copies will be in our hands in the next few weeks so we'll be selling a few at gigs and through direct contacts (join my e-list). The official release, however isn't until Feb 2011, at which point it will be available through all the usual channels, as either hard copy or iTunes download etc etc.
The new Fairfield Banjo is now well on the way. The prototype looks and sounds stunning! there will only be five instruments produced per year. Four of the 2010 batch are already sold so if you're interested in serial number 2010/5 you'd better move quickly. More info and pictures will be posted very soon. Click here to read more...

The Scoville Units
Blimey! It would appear that the forthcoming Scoville Units album is all recorded! We're not out of the woods yet, we still need to mix and master, but things are now beginning to shape up fast. Sounds pretty good too, even in it's current, fairly unpolished form. There will be a few pre-release copies floating about at gigs by the end of July but the official release/escape isn't scheduled until the end of the year. Watch this space. History of the Banjo Part 2
Just received a copy of Acoustic Magazine, issue 42 containing the second part of my 'History of the Banjo' feature. This part is more about buying and playing a banjo and includes some tab and lots of hand position photos etc etc. Acoustic Magazine apologises for printing the tab so small, it'll be posted, full size on their website very soon ..
